I saw this fellow randomly in Halifax. Great show...great record. Where is Proof of Love? I hope Emusic gets it for the rest of you. I bought it at the show.

Supergreat surprise

Staggerlee

Not another "alt-country" kid hacking away on de banjo and regurgitating Americana cliches. Luedecke is the real deal, a travelling troubador who writes deceptively simple-sounding, beautifully put together songs of love, hope, longing and the human spirit. Oh, and he can pick pretty good, too. For me this record stands with John Hartford's better moments. A nice surprise.

lovely stuff

Chris Luedecke combines witty alt-folk lyrics with deft clawhammer banjo playing. "I Quit My Job" is the battle cry of all wage slaves, "At The Airport" a tender song for anyone who has maintained a long-distance relationship, and "Joy of Cooking" is a stomping exploration of the spiritual dimensions of bacon.
