a personal favorite
This is a wonderful recording of a wonderful piece. The tempo is accurate, but not overly so. The playing itself is too, and especially the dynamics. Highly recommended example of the post-minimalist style.
richer than it seems
Perhaps it's silly to say that simple piano figures could carry such complexity inside such a lovely presentation, but it's worth pointing out just how wonderful this is to listen to while being incredibly rich in its details. Some of the preludes use just plain additive structure, while others do so in these blurs of notes, building up - it got me laughing. Other pieces are softer, meditative. The pieces are each short, but the whole is a classic piece of music. Kyle Gann calls it one of (if not the) first postminimalist or tota piece, and that title makes sense.
