"you're so cool"
Carl Orff wrote a lot more music than the typical Carmina Burana that most people know. In fact, Orff's CB was so popular, it had two sequels, but as is typical with sequels, they aren't as good as the original. So what do we have here? Carl Orff was well known in early-mid 20th century Germany (including the Nazi era) for writing a children's music lesson plan. He created muscial instruments designed for children to play. But these aren't your ordinary recorders and triangles! This recording captures fine performances of this music. While it was written as music for children, it is extremely sophisticated. While Orff instruments are still used for teaching music to children, it's hard to imagine children today being able to master these pieces. I had an old cassette recording of this music from the 1970's known as "Gassenhauer". Sadly, it died years ago. Listen to this wonderful recording and you will become enchanted.
