The first time you heard Tom Ze, you have to stop and pay attention. You won't hear vocals, lyrics, or instruments deployed in quite the same way anywhere else. If this is your first Tom Ze, back up and start with "Fabrication Defect".
It was early 90's when David Byrne introduced me to Tom Ze with a "best of" CD he compiled for Luaka Bob. I still recall how in the liner notes, Mr Talking Head was taking his hat off in respect to one of the greatest and most extraordinary artists of the "new" Brazilian scene. Tom Ze's music is never easy. But once you got it, it's gets straight to your soul...

I agree with other reviewers that this record isn't quite like anything I've ever heard but at times the tracks become tedious. Still, if you like Latin rythms and want to hear them on the skewed and jagged side, there are some worthwile downloads here. I like the first and last tracks the best.
This is unlike anything you've ever heard... really fantastic stuff.
