White rap pioneer's lost classic cuts to the chase
2007 | Label: Serchlite Music / The Orchard

MC Serch, one half of legendary white rap crew 3rd Bass, released one solo album, Return of the Product, for Def Jam and then appeared to disappear from the booth. That isn't true, naturally — his label shelved his second album for myriad reasons. It took nearly 13 years for him to unfurl the studio sessions from M.Y.L.A., but the results are as bluntly delivered and braggadocious as his iconic early work — no honky imitator is spared, including, um, Billy Ray Cyrus. And there's a bonus: Three songs from 3rd Bass' 2000 reunion, heretofore unheard.

The White Rapper Show

NedKoppel

It's not that MC Serch is one of the best white rappers ever. It's that he's one of the best. Period. Nobody seriously interested in hip-hop can dispute that. "Return of the Product" was a stunning achievement. This is a terrific companion to it, imagine Serch with skills intact but with production that's a little rougher around the edges. Yeah. It's that good. Well worth your eMusic membership this month. Click "download all" now.
