powerful reading of "Death & the Maiden"
I resisted the temptation to download this for a long time because of the lukewarm review below. Perhaps iskender was judging from the first ten notes alone? The Yggdrasil do hold back somewhat, but this gives them someplace to go during the furious development section. My only objection is that they do not observe the first movement repeat, which kind of throws off the proportions of the piece somewhat...but then the repeat is not taken by Tokyo, ABQ or Emersons either. 4 1/2 stars, rounding up to five.
