Of Louisiana, and beyond it

RadioBug

When I lived in New Orleans, seeing this band play live was a disconnect. Now that I live in Silver Lake, and the hipsters in hoodies surround me, I think back to how lucky I was to see such a great band live so many times. "Big Parade" was my first love, a post-Katrina song for a post-Katrina girl, but "Djinni Stomp" has snuck up on me, and I couldn't live without "Sing Like the Sun." Highly recommended, perfectly mixed.

some fine music

WWOZDJ

This cd is amazing. Sonically speaking - this music is powerful, but never overbearing. The lyrics grow on you within moments - Rotary Downs is based in New Orleans and represents a new chapter in creative possibilities. Listen to the samples of "Sing like the Sun" and "Black Town" (misspelled on the list) to whet your appetite.

Heard on NPR

moply

I heard this group on NPR's 'All Songs Considered' podcast and was lucky enough to find on eMusic. This was a gem of an album that I was introduced to. Tracks that stand out are "False Protection", "Holiday Home", and "A Feast in Squalor". But just get the whole album and start enjoying as you won't find any duds here.
