eMusic Review
Led by sultry chanteuse Carol C, Si-Sé follows in the great New York tradition of Latin-tinged pop that works as well in a dark, smoky room (if there are any dark, smoky rooms left) as on the dance floor. Think Lisa Lisa, the Brazilian Girls, that sort of sultry. Carol C has a yearning, delicate voice that can rise to meet any groove head-on. Though more authoritative in Spanish than in English, language is never an issue: the grooves take over with the quiet assurance of a band that has nothing to prove, but is ready to prove it anyway, from the late night beat of “The Rain” to the smooth and slinky reggae of “Burbuja.”
