Get Your Truck, Quick
I spent more time playing the closing credits of Hal Hartley's "Trust" over and over than actually watching the film -- I got stuck on the strangely beautiful music. (If you haven't seen the movie, get thee to Netflix.) So it was wonderful to find the album on eMusic, track 2 being the song that hooked me. Most of the others are just as good, once you get used to the early-90s echoey synth sound. In fact, that echoey quality is part of the appeal -- the piano plunks and guitar riffs are surrounded by open spaces, sometimes with stunning female voices in the distance (e.g., track 16). The whole thing somehow feels dated and modern at the same time, like the films themselves, I suppose. Other highlights are tracks 3, 6, 13, 14, and 24. It's best listened to on headphones, late at night, contemplatively.
