I love The Go Team. But live music in general is baaad. Just like most live performances, if the atmosphere is too excitable, the music suffers. This sounds messy compared to studio versions. The music is best when artists concentrate on recording not performing.
Their first album "Thunder, Lightning, Strike" has a very retro and very catchy feel. It sounds like it came from the late 20th century, and at the same time mocks parts of it and embraces other parts of it to create a unique sound that is full of character. Unforunately, emusic doesn't have it or their second album. I think all of these songs are from the first album, but they are really badly unbalanced in this case. Don't let these be an indication of what the recorded versions sound like.
so why doesn't e-music have more of their music? i'm also throwing in a few obvious references of a cheerleader/colour guard performing the songs of the Avalanches, Archie Bell & the Drells, and Sonic Youth, with way more exuberance
You have to see this band live to really get it. Its like Broken Social Scene, but with the stage invaded by the Laker Girls. Blending all the elements of funk hip hop and indierock. Yes, indie rock! More fun than a collection of Geedubya out-takes, and pretty girls dancing too. Go! Team will rock your world.
