The squee of the pipes
Okay, so it's true that Rufus Harley was not one of the great bagpipers of the world. His pipes are often out-of-tune, and they tend to be quite skirley. If you're truly serious about pipe music (or if you're a piper yourself) this will probably just about kill you. That said, I find this album thorougly delightlful. It's energetic, silly, and happily bizarre. And some of the jazz-to-Scottish-trad segues are quite brilliant, in their way. It's a brighter world that has this music in it.
