I like my lettuce raw!

monitos

If this album was like cooked lettuce I definitely wouldn't like it but I think it is nice chill stuff

Boring, bland, redundant

Comrade

This album is like eating raw lettuce: unsatisfying, chore-like, boring and with no flavor or filling capability.

best of the best in trip hop

This is my first review ever, so I guess that says something about Tosca. People are correct when comparing them to Theivery, however I believe Tosca to be a more inventive, less repetitive version. The tunes are sophisticated and plush and immediately accesible. This sounds geeky but I can't help but feeling cool when I listen to them. Also try JAC album for chunkier bigger beats, and faster version of their cerebral style.

Hundreds of listens

I heard Suzuki in a bar soon after its release, and the third time I asked the BT what was on I knew I had to buy it. I picked up the CD that night, taped it for in the car, and with only a couple weeks' exceptions, listened to it every time I drove for two years straight. Suzuki is as perfect as an album can be.

If you like Thievery Corporation, or downtempo type of relaxing but groovy music, you MUST d/l this whole album. I love it.

Already a Classic.

Like the man said. Until I looked at the date on here I didn't even realise this album had been around for 8 years. I got it when it came out and I still come back to it again and again. Manages to find a perfect balance point between super-stoned, horizontal chilling out and rolling, head-nodding groovingness. Outstanding production and original melodies as well.

Suzuki is amazing the first time round, AND it gets better with each listen. Its lovely subtle textures will have you gurning with joy as you bounce along to its mellow, bubbly, funky wondrousness. Superb.

Tosca’s second album Suzuki takes a lighter, airier approach to the trip-hop terrain that Opera explored. The spare, shimmering title track’s delicate synth textures, minimal beats, mellow rhythms, and breathy vocal samples set the tone for the rest of the album’s laid-back tracks. Though “Orozco,” “Bass on the Boat,” and “Ocean Beat” are more immediate variations on Tosca’s relaxed sound, for the most part, Suzuki offers a locked groove of hypnotic, deeply chilled-out epics. – Heather Phares
