i love this band, and am surprised more folks haven't rated it highly - but this ep is only ok in comparison to their full length of this year (just out, actually). THAT is a TOTALLY fantastic effort from a great band. this one's just awesome. but worth the download for sure!

I love it.

It's indie-scene social commentary. Look past the Architecture in Helsinki-sounding instruments and you'll find a lot more meaning. This band has wit and indie cred. It's too bad people here don't really seem to like it.

amazing

it is amazing to me that this record got such good reviews. I love Arts and Crafts, but this EP is pretty much a let down compared to everything else they put out. Sorry to everybody else who seems to be in love with this sub-par music.

Maintenant, on attend l’album complet. http://www.mu6.ca

It's impossible to listen to this album without thinking that they just lifted ideas right from Architecture in Helsinki. The first two tracks sound like B-sides from AIH's "In Case We Die." Ironically, when they stray from AIH's sound, and into their own, the results are mediocre at best. Tracks 1 & 2 are great because they sound like AIH, and track 5 is the only song on here that's both a somewhat-original song and worth hearing.

AMAZING!!

this is a great little ep. everything you wish architecture in helsinki would be...that is, if you're like me and you wish they would stop noodling and write more hooks. maybe a little like love is all, too. really really great.

These guys have such a raw, energetic, and spontaneous sound. Best EP since Tokyo Police Club's "A Lesson In Crime." "You! Me! Dancing!" is remarkably like Sonic Youth's "Teenage Riot," maybe even better.

brilliant

I sampled, I liked, I downloaded, I listen to often and love it. Fun stuff. Like a coked-up The Delgados. If you like the snippet of 'Started With a Mixx' then you'll like the whole thing.

“When you play pass the parcel with human body parts/Somebody might get head, but someone will get hurt.” Any debut EP that starts out with a couplet like that is immediately worth checking out, and Los Campesinos!’ Sticking Fingers into Sockets more than lives up to its promise. That opening track, “We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives,” is a blur of wordy verses broken up by a sweet-and-sour choral chorus that sounds like the Polyphonic Spree on a Broken Social Scene-style atmospheric downer. In fact, this seven-piece British band is signed to BSS’ Arts and Crafts label and this EP was produced by that band’s sonic mastermind, David Newfeld, which accounts for the extremely familiar medium-fi miasma of various unexpected instrumental touches and the occasional use of amplifier buzz and tape hiss as musical elements. Fundamentally, however, Los Campesinos! are considerably perkier and poppier than their Canadian mentors: plaintive, tuneful indie pop/rockers like “Don’t Tell Me to Do the Math(s)” and the brilliantly shambling “Frontwards” (like if vintage Talulah Gosh had a guest violinist) are more instantly hooky than anything Broken Social Scene have ever attempted, more along the lines of Guillemots or even an artsier version of the Arctic Monkeys. The EP’s only real flaw is that at six songs in around 15 minutes, it’s just way too short. More please. – Stewart Mason
