unexpected

jen.taylor

Huge fan of Ken Andrews' projects, but this was surprisingly not as good. It has most of the same aspects, but it just didn't seem "up to par" compared to his previous work. With On, Failure, and Year of the Rabbit it's easy to just get lost in the music and completely enjoy, but this lacks that "spark". Maybe I went into it having too high expectations, who knows. But it def is still good. 3.5

This is an infectious, great album.

Chances are if you've made it here you are a fan of Ken Andrew's earlier work with Failure, or possibly his lesser known releases as On or with Year of the Rabbit. This doesn't have as much of the edge that Failure did, but it's not as new wavey as On, and it is much better than Year of the Rabbit. This is an underappreciated gem. I like to play a game with this disc. Put it on when people are over and see how long it takes for them to tune in and ask what we're listening to. They almost always ask for a copy. It's that good.

Would have been a great EP

Chavez78

The first five songs are just tremendous. For me, they would easily have made a 5 star EP if it ended there. Unfortunately it doesn't. I like the variation in how different each of the songs can sound from each other, while maintaining the same musical theme.

Worth the wait

downerboy

been quite a wait but on first listen this sounds like classic ken andrews territory. blending his uniquely textured guitar playing with subtle electronic washes to give a drifting lilting feel to the record that doubltess will burrow under the skin.if you're new to his stuff(failure, year of the rabbit)check out "Up or Down" and opening track.rich melodic and atmospheric in a way only he can produce.Worth the wait.
