Pecker, 2 y Las Nadadoras
Label: Nacional Records

If you don't know Spanish, it's going to be mighty hard to tell exactly what Barcelona's indie-pop sensation Pecker is talking about in his songs. But like nearly all popular foreign-language artists, it doesn't matter much. You can hear that Pecker is having fun underneath his buoyant acoustic guitar and light drumming, whether it be topped with a lazy electronic whistle (“Tu Boca es Espiral”) or accompanied by a glittering piano (“Las Horas”). As a result, it's easy to hear why he's such a big deal to Spanish audiences — with slinky compositions and supple production these are songs that go down easily and only get better upon repetition.
