Exceeds the sum of it's parts.

This CD, shows many different downtempo influences. Hammock and Ulrich Schnauss, immediately come to the forefront, yet "Lights Out Asia" beautifully crafts some impressionistic landscapes by virtue of their own ability to impart sonic visions, much like "Slow Dancing Society" does. 'March Against The Savages' is one of the stand-out tracks on this playlist. If your fans of "Lanterna", or "Signal Hill" then this should appeal to you. In later CD's, the band opts for less vocals and more ambience, which seems like a better course. Check-out: 'In the Days of Jupiter' and 'Eyes Like Brontide'. Recommended.

I really like what these guys are doing. While this will be classified as electronic, they mix ambient synthesized sounds with live guitars (and on track 2, violins to considerable effect). Sometimes, when I hear a CD though, i hear what (in my opinion) would have made it better. While this is "electronic" the music really generates warmth. Unfortunately, i feel the artificial and synthetic drum noises detract from the rest of the tone. Almost all the songs on this CD would benefit greatly from acoustic drums or, at least, more natural percussive sounds and textures. To me, its a shame really. Notwithstanding this complaint, i would definitely still recommend this CD.

I downloaded this album in June and have hardly stopped listening to it. It is lush, dense, and bright. Every cut is meticulously crafted and the lyrics (what there are of them) don't get in the way of a breathtaking soundscape. I hope the band/label puts thier earlier album on here. If you like this check out Jatun and Bitcrush.

Magnificent

Achilles

This is lush and beautiful music with substance. Informed by music from recent electronic back to more dream-rock stuff by bands like The Cure, this album sounds both totally familiar and totally unique, but the overall impression is breathtaking. Good job Mike Cadoo at n5MD.

I've had this album in my music rotation for the last couple of weeks and I can't get enough of it. March Against The Savages is constantly playing in my head while at work. Beautiful track and the highlight of the album for me. All in all this is an album I'll definately consider for my favorite of 2007. n5MD continue to release quality stuff and I hope emusic.com continues to offer their releases. Other n5MD artists I love are Proem, Another Electronic Musician and Bitcrush.

Definitely Worth the Download

Nice new album from Lights Out Asia and another top notch release for the folks at N5MD. An amalgamation of sounds between, ambient, electronica, shoegaze, and post rock. However if you want more of this similar sound but (in my opinion) done much better, check out label mate artist, Bitcrush. As of July 07, Emusic does not have any of his releases, but you can download his music at n5md.com & enpeg.com respectively. You won't be dissapointed.
