Genius

jlantinen

The man was a genius. There is a lot of his best material on this, but i think it may have been a couple years before he really honed it. I've heard other recordings where he nailed the same material just a little bit better. But this is still a great recording.

NOT a straight copy of the HBO special

DevilsMischief

From the mid 80s an onward, starting with "Playin' With Your Head", Carlin followed the routine of recording an HBO special and then releasing an audio version of it as an album. However, this "Carlin on Campus" recording is different in that regard, and NOT the same as the HBO special of the same title. SOME of the routines here shows up on the HBO special, but there's a lot here that didn't! If you liked his mid-80s style, you'll like this. This disc was originally sold only at his live shows. Ignore the bogus track list given by crachette. The real track list, as printed right on the back of my CD (yes, it exists), is: 1. Opening Sequence, 2. The Prayer, 3. First Leftfielders, 4. A Moment of Silence, 5. Second Leftfielders, 6. Breakfast Wine and Who's Boss, 7. Third Leftfielders, 8. Baseball and Football, 9. Fourth Leftfielders, 10. Cars and Driving, 11. An Incomplete List of Impolite Words.

Finally!!!

Spiral429

It's ABOUT FREAKING TIME this long-lost album got a wider release. It's prime classic George, just as great as Parental Advisory and Playin' With Your Head (although it probably predates both). My ancient cassette copy which I can now finally retire has this tracklist: Opening Sequence - The Prayer - First Leftfielders - A Moment of Silence - Second Leftfielders - Breakfast Wine & Who's Boss - Third Leftfielders - Baseball & Football - Fourth Leftfielders - Cars & Driving - An Incomplete List of Impolite Words. And all for just one track of your queue? Grab it THIS MINUTE.

For the record... no pun intended...

crachette

This album has never formally been released on CD, hence the scratchiness of the version here... However it's managed to legally find it's way here, I have no idea... but unless you have something to play 33.3's, and are fortunate enough to find the LP... Well, just be glad it's here for you to download as one file!!! That in mind, here is the acctual track-listing for the show... 1 Opening 2 Prayer 3 A Place for My Stuff 4 Cartoon: It's No Bullshit 5 Little Dogs 6 Flamethrowers 7 Stuff on Driving 8 Cartoon: New News 9 Whistling 10 Assholes 11 Stomach Sounds 12 Getting Sick 13 Baseball and Football 14 Cartoon: Universe of Sports 15 Sports Cheer 16 Cartoon: Silent Film Star Death

you get what you pay for

Yes, it's Carlin, but it's also recorded off a record player or something (frequent scratchiness). Much (maybe all)of the material is on other albums and truthfully, Carlin sounds like he is a little under the influence. The delivery isn't as perfectly timed as I am used too for a Carlin performance. There is still a bunch of hilarious material though. It's definately worth one download.
