Is it October 9 yet?
It's been almost two years since we heard much of anything new from Jens Lekman, and I'm glad to say that the first single from his upcoming new album is the kind of classic indie pop we've come to expect from one of Sweden's best musical exports: witty lyrics delivered in a loungy croon complemented by a cheesy yet endearing horn section and, in this case, some fairly manic percussion. We even get to hear Jens get as close as he will possibly ever come to rocking out when the song slowly and steadily picks up tempo until it crescendos into a little bit of a rave up near the end. But he manages to pull it back together, tucks back in his shirt and straigtens his tie, and ends the song on a sweet, soft note. My god, I can't wait for the new album to come out.
