This is a voice doing what its owner wants, it's a brain engaged in a full range human thing, cuddly, post-first-gen feminist, in your face, pulling you home. Whatever she needs, she can deliver. Oh--and heart? There when she needs it, when she thinks the song needs it, when you need it.

Reading a magazine review of Joanna Newsom, searched emusic and a wrong link took me to Buried in Teeth EP. Only once downloaded did I discover it is actually Mariee Sioux. Exquisite voice linked to great songs. So glad to find it - what emusic is all about...
Some music is so exquisite, so sacred I don't want to play it too much. I might feel this way about "Faces in the Rocks", but on my ??th listen three days since I discovered it, half the songs still make me cry. Mariee Sioux's voice calls you to the forest and sky. Gentle Thunder's flute is a spirit birdsong. Allow the sounds to flow over and through you and be transported.
I really love this. Beautiful, evocative. I'm not even a big fan of folk, but this music sort of transcends the genre, like Fleet Foxes'.

This is completely amazing. Mariee Reminds me in ways of Joan Baez, Joanna Newsom, or Vashti Bunyan, but also totally her own style. Amazing lyrics and melodies and simple but perfect arrangements. I don't know what else to say, just listen to it.
