Sterndale Bennett on Lyrita
I first heard a work by Sterndale Bennett on the radio broadcast in the 1970s from Butler University. It was the overture 'the Naiads' and was so refresshing that I sought out all the records I could find (none then). These recordings of the piano concertos show a composer at home in the Mendelssohn era, writing accomplished and entertaining music, and are well worth listening to.
