French Fun
This group is known for its renditions of what could be called popular music of the Renaissance, and this album is a perfect introduction. A few sacred pieces, a few raucous peasant songs, some instrumental interludes for the lute or the strings, and everything inbetween. Their vocal technique as they whoop and swoop through the "low" pieces is astonishing, and this program sounds like a kind of egalitarian party of Parisians all sitting at a table after a good meal regaling each other with songs. A real find!
