The choral group is not "All Angels" - they actually go by the name "Anonymous 4." You can find (I think) all of their recordings on eMusic.

A Wonderful Surprise

TangerineLemming

Few free albums are worth listening to, but this is worth paying good money for. Superb orchestral and chorale arrangements make this a sublime listening experience. And it's free too!

Made me look for more

opuspocus

This album really made me look for more of the same, particularilly the Tallis and the Telemann. I really hope this type of album gets put out more often!

Anonymous choral group ?

Leguedon

Very good sample ! I think that the artist group singing the marvelous Gloryland is called "All Angels", an all female choral english group.

Where next?

Nereffid

Not only is it free, it's very very good. If you're new to classical music but like what you've heard, you might be interested in exploring further. My web site Nereffid's Guide has a page offering download suggestions following on from this sampler. Visit it at http://www.geocities.com/nereffid/hmsampler.htm or ask the regulars on the eMusic messageboard for advice.

Well-rounded

graFick

This is a great sample of the fine performers and artists you can expect from Harmonia Mundi. The Handel is lovely, the Telemann concerto really stands out, as well as the Tallis Misere Nostre, Domine (a little partial to early music, perhaps?). Overall, this is a great album to introduce you to some different styles/periods of classical music. Bravo, Harmonia Mundi!

Superb classical music pieces

kjc

Enchanting musical renditions of Handel, Carl Phillipp Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and others by a couple of new artists (to me). Bravo to them all for marvelous work. The entire collection is lovely.

excellent sampler!

This is an excellent sampler that has various styles in it - piano, flute, and choral. Very well put-together. I really like the Couperin; haven't heard much of this composer. I am a greatest-hits kinda gal, and it doesn't get much better than this!

Free,but I'd still pay for it.That good

crazy_k

These are good renditions of the original artist compositions.Beautiful music. And the brightest Gem is track_3_ Glorylands::(Where we'll never grow old) is superb.Track_10_ Gershwin's:: Piano Concerto is done masterfully.I did think track _1_ was out of place "didn't like it" and gives the wrong impression of the rest of the tracks, witch are of the highest caliber.Over all I rate 4 1/2 stars not including track _1_ .

Rising Tide of Female Jazz Singers

By Dan Ouellette, eMusic Contributor

While the legendary voices of such jazz icons as Billie, Ella and Sarah still ring true, subsequent generations of female jazz vocalists have taken the music in new directions, especially in the '90s, ranging from Cassandra Wilson's new-standard caress to Diana Krall's classics with a twist. Taking their lead, young singers over the last decade have been swinging the vocal tradition onto a new plateau with a pop sensibility. In the mix are tunes by… more »
