What a fiasco

gglks

This is my favourite piece of classical music...its one of those pieces that makes you feel great to be alive and this set has had rave reviews from other eMus but I listened to this in disbelief(as I also did with Kent Nagano's performance)there is no tension, excitement, joy or charisma and not even good singing...try the last track from about the 2.01 mark where the two sopranos are apallingly insecure or the second last track where the tenor is so cautious and very wobbly under pressure. The very start too is marked allegro impetuoso but here this is just sluggish. I returned to my benchmarks Bernstein LSO, - - - /Solti Tennstedt/and best of all Bernstein's DVD with the Vienna Phil.. these aren't state of the art recordings but never less than good and interpretively on another planet to this.
