Docked it a star for sound quality
This was a very solid date for the Davis/Trane quintet, which illustrates vividly why that particular front line would not stay together much longer. Trane is as loping and expansive as Miles is controlled, even where the material lends itself to Miles' compact approach. Solid four stars, but I am docking it for sound quality. Like so many of these "legitimized" bootlegs, it sounds as though it were recorded on a cassette deck snuck into the concert and never removed from someone's overcoat pocket. No stereo, no bass whatsoever.... but, when all is said and done, I'll take it.
