so funny

jd.nyc

there are some truly classic bits on this album. The saccharine oozes off him... that's a compliment!

Made me Laugh but I wish I was watching it.

There is no question MIB is funny. The billboard joke made me bust out laughing at work. Everyone wanted to know what was so funny. I will admit though that this would go over much better as a DVD than a cd. Listening to it I felt I was missing out a little.

Sounds like Nachos, Rhymes with Yazi...

DRawfulMD

Michael Black manages to make some of the most disturbing and politically incorrect situations hilarious. I have seen his stand-up live several times now, and this is just as great. This is well worth a download!

Hey Aileen!!!

FZ1

I'm not messed up...I can prove it. But what's the point? I'm Christian and I like comedy...Dave Attel (crude), David Cross (highly offensive)...but MIB is not a good stand-up guy.

Funny... but no Stella

unkiedibbs

I downloaded this on a whim and was pretty pleased overall... although it seems to be aimed more at the I Love the 80's crowd than the Stella crowd. Still really funny overall.

Ha ha meh...

This is unlike all the stuff I've seen him in on tv. I was expecting the restrained delivery of goofiness, but most of the album is Michael yelling a bunch. It's funny and all and I laughed out loud a couple of times but no resemblance to what I liked about his work in other places.

Air Supply?

Aileen

MIB is fun and not nearly as offensive as say, Kathy Griffin (though not to me). Hard to take a review seriously from someone who downloaded Air Supply? Go join a christian download site and leave your judgemental issues to your own messed up kind.

Absolute garbage. If you are a Christian, don't bother. Anti-Christian and foul-mouthed.

They Say All Media Guide

From his straight-faced commentary in VH1′s I Love the Eighties to his roles in several movies, Michael Ian Black has risen to the inner circle of modern-day comedians. Other members of The State may be similarly popular in their own field, but Black’s popularity extends well beyond the loyal audiences of Comedy Central. This, of course, puts him on an even playing field with standup kingpin Dane Cook, whose sex-fueled zingers have already presented Comedy Central Records with two album entries in the Billboard Top Ten. Cook’s standup routine translates well to CD, where his supercharged presence still shines, but Black makes a rougher transition on his debut. I Am a Wonderful Man boasts the usual brand of Black humor, including swipes at the Nazi party (who are likened to the B-52′s’ “Rock Lobster”) and the wearisome institution of marriage (“married — or, as I like to call it — ‘pre-divorced’”). There’s plenty of hilarity here, to be sure, but Black’s aloof delivery simply doesn’t read as well as it does on TV. He’s a visual comic — not someone who specializes in slapstick, but rather a comedian whose facial expressions are as integral to his jokes as the material itself. To illustrate that point, observe the album’s superb packaging: a misty-eyed Black posing beside a bush on the front cover, a Disney-approved picture on the back (including a cartoon bird perched atop Black’s extended finger), and — the crown jewel of the digipack — a foldout (dare we say centerfold?) of Mr. Black, naked, resting seductively on a bearskin rug alongside several well-placed glasses of wine. The amusing packaging is testament to his comic capabilities; he just needs a camera lens to bring that potential fully out. And while several tracks on I Am a Wonderful Man do rival Stella and The State for some of Black’s best moments, his CD debut is largely an appetizer for the meaty performances of those television shows. – Andrew Leahey
