Maybe drum & bass isn't your cup of tea. This is an absolutely brilliant track. I recommend the album "Colours" (released in 1997), which "Metropolis" comes from, to every fan of this genre

like a waste of 7 minutes of my life. Ok first you get the jist of it just 4 minutes into the song and it's just pretty much the same ambient drum beat the whole song with a few Skertch* skertchs* bworb* bworbs* and a few words you can't understand thrown in. It just sounded like someone was lazy and just came up with a few somewhat different beats and stretched them out for 7 minutes. Songs like these are just supposed to make you dance but this didn't do that. It wouldn't even be good backround music it would just be kinda creepy. Maybe it would be good for housecleaning but i have yet to try that. Also, maybe it would sound better in a club but good music should sound good even without big speakers and this just isn't good.
Metropolis is a wonderful drum & bass track -- one of the first I really got into, and one of the many I still listen to. As others have said, the sample is not representative of the whole song. It's unfortunately cut short just as the introduction energy reaches its peak. If you can find the entire Colours album somewhere, do it. But Metropolis is well worth a download on its own.
Right... The album, Colours, is great. It is a shame it can't be found here.
A shame eMusic doesn't provide the album. It is called Colours, and it is all as great as this track.... The whole album is a must have.
I don't understand why the sound samples of every drum n bass record on e-music plays only the intro. I've complained to e-music about this awhile ago and they don't seem to care. They at least need to go a quarter of the way through the track to capture the true song.
The 30-second sound sample for Metropolis provided by eMusic doesn't capture ANY of the good portion of the track, just the lead into the d'n'b. You'll just have to go by the reviews, which should tell you enough to risk the 20+ cents.
For me it's one of the greatest drum and bass tunes ever written. There is just nothing wrong with it. The B-side on the 12" was good as well. Pity that's not on here.
Indeed, simple as that, if you're into drum n bass, especially the hefty, scary ones, this is a must have 1996 classic track! I had it on my 1997 Metalheadz "Platinum Breakz II" doubler, favorite.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS ALREADY. BO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
