AMAZING

DreadPirateVane

the trouble i think most people have with this album is that it is not mat barlow but close your eyes and listen to this album it is amazing the vocals are some of the best ripper owens has done and the guitar work is some of the best that jon has done the album is litterally flawless, i will agree with the millions that barlow is the vocal for iced earth and will always be, for for a brief period ripper come in and did a flawless job and these extremely huge shoes to fill but i do not think he tried to fill them he did his own thing,,, i would rate this album in the top two or three iced earth has ever done musically and would recomend this album to any true metalhead download it sit back and get ready to go on a ride that jon has ready for you!!!!!

Different singer, still good.

The Set Dominae albums are meant to be different from the other albums by IE. These are concept albums. That being said, I view them as stories over a regular 10 track CD. If listened to this way the CD will not only grow on you, you will wish that "The Crucible of Man" done in with the same vocalist. (Who cares which. Both the Ripper and Matt Barlow are AMAZING.) If you are looking for singles I would recomend either "Ten thousand Strong" or "The Clouding."

A very disapointing album.

Like The Glorious Burden before it, this album just isn't that great. The concept doesn't work, and the story parts just get in the way. If you want a strong concept album check out it's sequel "The Crucible of Man" Not only does it feature the return of Matt Barlow, the true voice of Iced Earth, it's also more focused and has stronger songs. Ripper doesn't work for this band, and I'm glad to have Barlow back.

Pretty Disappointed

I've been into Iced Earth since around Something Wicked, and Stormrider is by far my favorite. I didn't like Horror Show much and really disliked Glorious Burden. I gave this one a shot but I just don't like it.

Iced Earth simply Rocks

Ruhl

Ever since I was introduced to Iced Earth I have enjoyed listening to their music. Tim Owens is the lead singer here (you know, the "new" Judas lead singer from the 90's) and he does alright. I really think it is the development of the vocals coupled with the music itself that makes Iced Earth, and this album, so great. This is a first in a series where the second is due late 2008 with the almighty Matt Barlow returning! Above all else what really sets Iced Earth apart from other bands is their ability to tell a story, especially this ongoing one, while providing great music.

They Say All Music Guide

Some metal bands like to wallow in their misery, some like to party hard, and some aren’t bashful in voicing their admiration of Lucifer. But a band like Iced Earth refuses to indulge in any of the aforementioned well-traveled roads; instead, they specialize in triumphant-sounding metal, often sounding like the perfect soundtrack for if you were training for the triathlon at the Olympics. And on their 2007 release, Framing Armageddon, the group continues to show off their instrumental and vocal prowess — as evidenced by the masterful guitar work of founding member Jon Schaffer (“Something Wicked, Pt. One”), and the multi-octave vocal gymnastics from former Judas Priest frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens (“Infiltrate and Assimilate”). Getting back to the whole “triumphant metal” thing, take a listen to the chorus of “A Charge to Keep” and tell me you can’t picture raising your fist high in victory. And it should come as no surprise that since the group has always thought in “epic” terms, Framing Armageddon is indeed a concept album. According to a press release, the story line is “A heavy metal sci-fi thriller of epic proportions, propelling one through a tale of evil and tragic loss, as well as the deception, patience and belief it takes to plan a reckoning.” Yowsah! – Greg Prato
