eMusic Review
Songs lumber and lurch on Plunder, Beg & Curse, the superb full-length debut from Mississippi's Colour Revolt. Even the ballads — the slow, breathy, psychedelic ballads — have a kind of weight to them. This is heavy music, but not in a metallic sense: witness the scuzzed-up guitar that slices the center of "Naked & Red" or the boogie-rock noodling in the background of the aptly-named "Swamp." Colour Revolt shoot a kind of dread and ballast into their indie-rock, making each drum thwack and bass roll sound giant-sized.
