Perfect for any season
The beginning of the album reminds me of Summer and then it progresses through all the seasons in terms of tone. I saw them open up for the New Pornographers and it was amazing.

By combining the world beats and vocal style of Beirut with the eclectic / manic side of Animal Collective and the twangy, rusty blues guitar licks of Califone, The Dodos have created a sound that might just surpass all three. And that's big for me.
Pretty; fun.
A great album! Love the arrangements and the drums. Can listen to over and over.
Took me awhile to get into it, but now I love every minute. Buy it.
i agree that this album provides a fantastic soundtrack for whatever you're doing. instruments marry nicely!
From start to finish, Visiter shines. While some of the lyrics do tire, its continuously great as a background soundtrack.
Nothing but great song craft on this album. The combination of African drum beats and lo-fi guitars should keep this album in everyone's earbuds.
While many here seem to dislike the lyrics, I'll speak up in favor of the combination of the bluegrassy/folky instrumentation and the African drumming/rhythms. I think that this group merged them very well. Each instrument propels the other. The segue from the pensiveness of "Walking" into the energy of "Red and Purple"" is fantastic.
I am a pathetic sucker for bluegrass-influenced rock. The Dodos share Port O’Brien’s ragged edges, and they share the sometimes-tiring middle portions. Still, it’s an excellent album. Percussion drives Visiter far more than most bluegrass and folk offerings—it’s a nice cacophony, after all.
