Excellent

Wonderful stuff. A little on the dark and discordant side at times, but not too much. Deep drones and washes are kept in churning motion by an overlay of scurrying glitches and tones, achieving something more restless and swirling than drone and more emotionally engaging than glitch. There are moments that get too metallic to keep the ocean trope from being plausible all the time, at least for my imagination (unless there are some sunken wrecks being dismembered). But taking the music for itself this is one of my favorite downloads in a while. It's deep and restless - feels in some ways like a darker conceptual counterpart to Tetsu Inoue's 'Inland'. Try track 4.

Too alienated....

Muse8

A bit too dark and alienated. With the exception of "Toward Water", this is music of nightmares.

not a flaw at all....

it's glitch-laden stylistic effect. not for everyone, i admit. i, for one, like it quite a bit. i was taken aback a bit at first by the glitchy aspects of ryuichi sakamoto's collaborations with alva noto, but have also grown to really love the results there as well. my problem is that track #2 cuts off way early. it's supposed to be 5:10. booo!!
