"October" was the Claire Hammil equivalent of Joni's "Blue". It is an album of deeply personal songs that manage to say something universal at the same time. The majority of songs have simple arrangements that have stood the test of time, while the strength of the songs make the odd 70s arrangements acceptable. It is incredible that a teenager could have written some of the stronger songs here or have sung them in a voice that oozes life experiences she may have only been able to guess at back then. "October" is an album that deserved to have been up there with the best of that phenomenally creative period. Right that wrong and download it now!
