A Great Find

tommartin

This is one of those bands/albums that really makes you appreciate eMusic. Quirky, off-beat slack rock with featuring the vibes. Take a chance on this - even with your now more-valuable-than ever credits. Well worth it. Similar category as the excellent "Jukebox the Ghost": silly band names, great music.

As Condescending as They Wanna Be

ptolemyclark

Cheery, slightly mean-spirited, and quirky pop. With vibraphone! Yay! From gorgeous piano ballads (Looking Over My Shoulder) to throwback surf-rock (Faded Away), it's all sorts of fun, with lyrics like "What passed for quirky once before / seems more and more / since the pills and the booze." Their bio is quite telling: "Frontman Kevin Kendrick founded A Big Yes and a small no in the summer of 2006 with a vibraphone, 5 close friends, and a beautiful velvet jacket. ...they began playing their brand of hyper-educated, condescending-as-they-wanna-be, expressionist avant-pop around their hometown of New York City." That sums it up just fine. :)
