Twine, Violets
2008 | Label: Ghostly International/SMM / IODA

Another lush, haunting release from Twine, blending eerie atmospherics with brittle, dreamlike guitars. Where most other acts on the Ghostly imprint edge toward the dance floor, Twine is happy to stand saucer-eyed in the corner, beholden to weird visions no one else can see. It's uniquely, sublimely unsettling, a marvelous fever dream of an album that both haunts and hypnotizes.

lacking

Let's not fool ourselves, this record is boring. I was really excited when I heard the bits before downloading this record, and I was sorely disappointed when I finally listened to the album as a whole. Twine has a way with texture and he gets some really great sounds, but musically he needs to try harder.
