Great take on a beloved musical!
I saw this musical in High School and it has held the position of my favorite musical ever since. The story of the struggle between love and death as personified by the Voodoo Gods as well as the beautiful harmonies that literally give me goosebumps no matter how many times I listen to it make it an enjoyable musical to listen to. This London cast has some very interesting differences some are better and others are not. I think that the actor playing Papa Gey was a much stronger singer than the original, and some of the orchestration is more rich, but I also find some of the harmonies are muted and I think the actor who played Ton Ton Julian didn't not come close to the American counterpart. Please get this musical!
