Like music coming trough the wall …

avisby

… or perhaps trough skin, muscle and amniotic. There is a sort of warm comforting feel about this piece, like you would imagine it to be in a mother’s womb. The heartbeat and the noise from blood running trough the veins is missing though. But apart from that, it is pretty much the impression you get. Everything is slow and damped. A Deeper Silence is as close as music can get to the vanishing point without disappearing.

The fabric of the heavens

Gorgeous minimal ambience. Floats ethereally, hanging in space like an endless, seamless loop where you're trapped forever, imprinted on the event horizon.

Masterpiece

Needless to point at Steve Roach's importance as THE ambient musician of the last 20 years. Among his one track super silent ambient CDs this is one of the best - highly evocative, beautifully dark and meditative music. This is no chill out lounge music - its made for deep listening. I listen to it in the evening - eyes closed and it's like a very powerful medition.

Strong Piece

This is a great work. The cover art is a perfect reflection of where the track takes you. Invokes a sense of how small you are, but also how truly awesome and beautiful the universe is. I know that's a dramatic description for a 70-minute loop, but a late-night listen in bed proves really affective. Highly recommended.

Brilliant Space Music

Roseatespoonbill

This is so far, by far the best ambient/space music I have ever heard. It resembles silence in a way, yet it is very powerful. It evokes a very slow, yet very deep emotion. Unfortunately, I am a review, and I cannot really describe to you accurately the feelings it evokes. Sorry, for forgetting this. I would give it five stars, and I judge very conservatively.

Pourri...

A little goes a long way

Masanga

There's less than a minute of actual music here - like its closest Roachian relative, the ravishing Darkest before Dawn, it's actually a short piece on a loop - but don't be put off by that; this is really gorgeous stuff. There's something about these brief but extremely rich looped compositions that seems to bring out his very best as a soundmaker. It's very quiet - you may need to crank it up a bit to get the full lushness.

Truly, deeply

Bobbert

For fans of longer pieces by this master of time and space, "A Deeper Silence" provides the basis for a deeply relaxing journey, whether in dream-filled sleep or serene awareness. Reminds me of "A Piece of Infinity" from his 4-CD set, "Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces". Yet a bit fuller at the same time. My first night with this piece in continuous playback was filled with deep sleep and wondrous instructional dreams.
