The Mekons went unplugged and performed in the round on their last American tour in support of the album Natural. Fans of that more folky version of these rabble-rousing socialist country-punks will find much to enjoy in this here curio, a collaboration between the group's male-female leads. Originally available only from the Mekons 'website in a paper sleeve EP version with eight tunes, it's likely that only the most diehard of fans even know about it. (It's out of print and only available now as a download.) Songs alternate between the two singers, Sally's being the strongest throughout. Of course, they sure do harmonize nicely together, most notably on "I Picked Up the Pieces." Timms 'takes on Willie Nelson's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and Will Oldham's "Horses" are amazing and the ones to grab if you're skint (that's British for broke).
