Love this - very reminiscent of Shawn Colvin on some tracks (e.g 'To The Bone'), but then echoes of Gillian Welch on 'Rocks and Water', but then a bit of Dar Williams influence elsewhere... I guess at this point she was still looking for a signature style, but overall a consistently very good album.

This Was My First ...

... my first Deb Talan album, about four months ago. Since then I've acquired everything I can lay hands on. Just love her songs and voice. Arrangements on this album are excellent, somewhat more sophisticated than on her previous work, and they complement the songs nicely. Once again, lots of favorites here. The fully produced version of "Tell Your Story Walking (track 2) brings out nuances of this fabulous song very nicely. See also tracks 4, 7, 8, 9.

Deb and/or Steve = great music

Perfect fragile little voice. I agree with "This album, coupled with Steve Tannen's wonderful "Big Sinorita" provide proof positive that Talan and Tannen both are compelling artists each in thier own right"

Love this album

I download this off the strength of Rocks & Water, which I heard on Pandora, and I am just wowed by the rest of the album. Not a bad song on here. I'm listening to it constantly and I can tell now this will be the soundtrack to my summer.

NOT Just for Weepies Fans!

This album, coupled with Steve Tannen's wonderful "Big Sinorita" provide proof positive that Talan and Tannen both are compelling artists each in thier own right. As is the case with Tannen's album, Talan's "A Bird Flies Out" is filled with the same well crafted songs with infectious melodies coupled with intelligent and mature lyrics one finds in both of the Weepies albums.
