Reunion #3...Cool CD

jungleland2

The Stray Cats have had all of their nine lives, I can't think of a band that has had more "combacks" 1986's Rock Therapy, 1989's Nine Lives and 1992's Choo Choo Hot Fish.(and comeback tours in 2007) Outside of the original three lps, I prefer Choo Choo Hot Fish. They have a more muscular sound, over-driven guitars, fuller production. Dave Edmunds is the best producer for this band, he even takes a lead vocal on Cry Baby. Elvis On Velvet and Mystery Train, My Heart Is a Liar,Beautiful Blues and a smokin' take of "Please Don't Touch" make this one of the best comeback records by any band - it is as good as the original records.

This would not be one of my favorite Stray Cat albums but it is a legit studio album, and not bad either. Elvis On Velvet and Sleepwalk my 2 favorite tracks.

I really like the Stray Cats--I have a couple of their records (yes, on vinyl) and I was happy to see that emusic has some of their recordings to download. Well, this is definitely not one of their better albums. It's not terrible, but just lukewarm. Lust in Love is worth downloading--more like the Cats that I know and love--upbeat rockabilly. Jade Idol is good too--it's a cool, mellow track.
