Southern-born Ryan Aufferman has a honey-sweetness to his voice that makes his particular brand of folk-pop go down extra smooth. There are similarities to the hushed fingerpicked folk of Iron and Wine's Sam Beam, but Aufferman allows his songs to soar rather than revel in their own austerity. Immediate highlights are the drowsy ballad "Waking Up Alone" and the beautiful, lilting "Dizzy Spells."
