Some Gems

Thanks to the previous reviews, I downloaded Willie Nelson and Lorrie Morgan. Both take a nice new spin on the old tunes. The other selections only prove why the Boys can never be duplicated. Even by themselves. A good idea largely wasted on the wrong mix of talents.

I love duet albums (like BB King and Eric Clapton's etc). I'm not all that country, but this is a striking mix. Obviously more than a duet, but wow! the mix has the harmonies and highs of the Boys of my HiSchool days and a pleasant jigger of Southern Comfort. Junior Brown could almost convert me the other way.

A Late Convert... Thanks to this Album!

Never been really into the Beach Boys.. I was too busy with the Stones and couldn't see the relevance of all that Beach stuff in the dreary old UK. Fast forward 40 years and all of a sudden it hit me!! For me, Lorrie Morgan (who I'd never heard of) really makes this album. Oh, and the Willy Nelson track is great too! So, what do we have.. the Beach Boys songs, with the same great harmonies, but much better lead vocals. I've listened to this hundreds of times and never get bored. Maybe they could do another one with people like Tom Petty, Morrisey or maybe even Lou Reed? More Please!

Tribute complilation

Neptuneman08

Besides Kathy Traccoli, this isn't very good covers of the beach boys sound. Even with the guys in the background with each collaboration, bad mixing (huge reverb), off-key harmonies, and outdated effects. If ya need a Beach Boys tribute, I recomend "When God Smiles"

Not Great, But Could Be Worse

To the people saying this is not the Beach Boys, you're right in a way: they are not singing lead. However, they ARE singing backup on every track. I've had this album since either the year it came out or the year after (got it for Christmas but not quite sure which year) and it's all right...but the production is sterile and the arrangements are rather bland. If you're a Beach Boy diehard like me, you'll want this; if not, you may wish to look elsewhere.

Teenage Graceland

After Elvis went into the Army and before the British Invasion, the years 1958-1963 were rock's forgotten years. But they were the years that shaped the musical tastes of baby boomers and of acts from the Beatles and Rolling Stones to Bruce Springsteen and the Ramones. Hear the dance sensations, the one-hit-wonders, the girl groups and doo-wop singers, surfers and rockabilly twangers, the birth of Motown, the evolution of R&B into soul and so much… more »
