Best Timba fusion
I love these weird Envidia projects, sort of concept albums, and La Feroz de Prados no different. Were they once a real group? Who knows? Do we care? The liner notes, such as they are, hint that; now an Envidia all-star group, featuring the great Arnaldo Jimenez on bass, along with a ton of good singers, including Maikel Alonso and Tirso Duarte, backed up by the coro of Cordovi, Jose Lusson, and Ciso Guanche. And they all plow their way through some of the greatest music of the last twenty years in Cuba, including Ng La Banda "La Expresiva," Pupys "Temba, Tumba, Timba," Manolito Simonets "Marcando La Distancia" and Paulito "Sofocacion." And they do it with violins, and a flute, and a horn section, in a post-Van Van, Pupy style. And they get down; this, finally, is a great party album of great songs. I'd like to hear this band after a year of gigs, but I suspect that's not happening.
