Such a rad record, Ariel compiled it himself.

It's really not possible to pigeon-hole the falsetto-tinged vibrato-laced sound-effect-laden jangly-guitared cynanide- sonics of such songs of lyrical and melodic note as "Suicide Notation," and the tormented "Fantasm". It is rather like describing "The Plastic Ono Band" to a grown-up elderly generation of F. Scott Fitgerald Benamin Buttonesque flappers. While it appears they may be an appropriate audience it is not intentional. Many referents to Frank Zappa abound. Be fair, Zappa was more iconoclastic, more salacious, and he wrote less catchy tunes. The Ariel Pink really can carry a doo-wop pop-steady tune into the realms of seedy lo-fi and back: reverberating, vibrating, like a cheap motel room quarter per fifteen minute bed. I am surprised none have made an apt comparison to Pulp's excursions into hypnotic yet disastrous love affairs with maniacal grudge-dips. Some of the lyrics are bordering on Scott Walker territory, some sound like proto-indie-band.
Hallo, early Zappa. Yeah. Strange and beautyful. No real high definition sound ;-) great
A rarities collection that rivals Lover Boy. Amazing!
