given the ingredients, i wasn't prepared to like this EP as much as i do. and i do very much thank you. this music is dirty in the very best sense: no macho posturing, just plain visceral ruckus that seems strangely purposeful. & at times, catchy (a thousand eyes is a definite highlight, a stellar song). the album (tentacles, not yet available on emusic) is quite good too but the EP packs more punch, so i would heartily recommend it as an introduction.
but mostly hit. The final two tracks on the EP are thunderous, and finally pull together all the ideas that make the earlier tracks interesting but erratic. Looking forward to the album.

I hate to be a complete tool, but I have been hooked on this group since reading the pitchfork review and seeing them at one of their multiple NYC appearances this summer. OK...maybe the lamest review ever...but the album is as good as this review is bad. All round a good year for all things CRYSTAL (ie Stilts, Castles, Antlers, ect.)
