love his voice
I've always enjoyed Dargel's fractured story telling and funny subjects, and this album fits well with what I'd hoped to hear. Also, his voice is great. It's unique, and it works well most of the time.

This album gets better with every listen. Each song was commissioned by a different person as a gift to his or her significant other. Surprisingly moving but not overly sentimental, the songs are funny and sweet, and somehow Dargel manages to give each couple a very unique and beautiful portrait. The synths and drumbeats are unnaturally quirky but I actually like how they cut back on the possible cheese factor of an album of customized love songs. The smart lyrics deftly handle the peculiarities of each couple's story. And through the sometimes banal daily-life details revealed, a deeper sense emerges of what it means to love.
