18 killer instros from the early days of Toe Rag
The Charles Napiers were one of the finest instrumental bands of the 90s, as you can hear on these 18 original compositions, culled from their earlier vinyl releases. Most of them were recorded in the original Toe Rag with the redoutable Liam Watson at the controls. The last 4 were recorded at the now sadly defunct Pathway (where The Damned recorded their debut lp), again with Liam twiddling the knobs, as Toe Rag mk1 had shut down and he hadn't yet built the mighty Toe Rag mk2. Augmenting the git/git/bass/drums sound are special guests Johnny Johnson (of Thee Headcoats, The Vibes, etc) on harmonica, Parsley The Lion (Adventures of Parsley, Dutronc, etc) on Hammond & Mark Norton (Gene Drayton Unit, etc) on sax. If you enjoy the likes of Link Wray, Davie Allan, John Barry, Henry Mancini, etc, you'll love The Napiers.
