Let's get this straight...
... once & for all - Jeff Beck is the greatest U.K. rock guitarist of the 1960s. Better than Clapton. Better than Page. This record is a good place to start.

Totally agree with the review on Mister You're a Better Man Than I. Simply amazing. The Nazz Are Blue has a moment during the solo that still sends the shivers down my spine all these years later.
This is a mixture of Yardbirds Jeff Beck cuts and some solo instrumentals but these are worthwhile gets for any J.B. fan or guitar freak. He was getting outrageous sounds out of his guitar and remember this was only 1965 or 1966 mostly - a true visionary.
Jeff Beck's lead section on Mister You're a Better Man Than I has to be one of the first real killer leads in rock. He would later go on to perfect the hanging extended "fattie" note on his cut Nazz Are Blue with the Yardbirds. That hanging fattie note sounds as if he tore it from the heart of the cosmos and planets died giving birth to it, dig out the Nazz Are Blue somewhere (in honor of the planets that died birthing that note). But it started here first and if you missed Mister You're A Better Man Than I, then you missed one of the great moments in rock history.
