A lot of remix projects end up sounding dangerously train wreck-y: folk-pop tunes given a jarringly 4×4 beat and some squelching synths. It can be altogether disconcerting at times. Luckily on Remixed, the results are comparatively subtle and often extremely satisfying. Check San Serac's "Instantly Dubbed Mix" for some Arthur Russell-esque mutant disco warping or the Paronomasiac Remix of "M4 (Part II)," which keeps the dark, brooding sound of Faunts intact and just adds some assertive thump. Not all of the re-workings here are aimed at the dancefloor, either — Brightest Feathers 'remix of "Of Nature" swirls and dips more like vintage IDMers (think Lali Puna).
