Totally Excellent
I'm going to be 54 in June and actually by mistake saw the Groovies at the new group night at the Fillmore East for $1.50 I really only knew them from a few things I heard stoned at a friends house on Supernazz, they blasted even then. this is better, caught up to them in their Beatle cap era in 1978 at the Bottom Line NYC this is some hot poop babies

Chris Wilson takes over on vox on these post-"Teenage Head" era demos, leaving the Roy Loney / Kama Sutra label era behind. It opens and you'd swear you were in the UK at some pub listening to a mod act rip through their best American R&B set. It's all pre-"Shake Some Action" LP whose power pop pleasures came out on Sire, and Cyril Jordan helmed these self produced rocking recordings that focus on the 71-73 period as indicated. Rated by many fans as their best overall CD collection, these takes were previously only available on bootlegs, you get some lo-fi and raw studio recordings highlighting a Stone-sy SF based band incubating just before they never caught on in a wider way, but ended up in the coulda woulda shoulda file.
