Great album, bad MP3s...

I love this album, but I downloaded it and all the songs have 2 seconds of silence at the end and the last song is cut short. Since it was already reported, I thought it was fixed. Contact eMusic before download! or get the CD and rip it yourself!

A five star album, but...

This is a masterpiece of metal. Dan Swano weaves variations of death metal into an epic 40 minute journey. Not a minute seems tedious or unnecessary, and when the opus ends, it is hard to believe that such a cohesive composition could be categorized under one of the most extreme genres of metal. For these reasons it is UNACCEPTABLE to have this album in a form other than that which does its miraculous flow justice. I have no qualms with eMusic, but this album must be heard the right way.

Buy this...but not here!

I was pretty happy to see this here since it's so difficult to get elsewhere. Originally this was released as a single forty minute track. Now, it's been split into eight (I'm sure to insure fair value). That shouldn't really be a problem but it is because whoever split it up did a terrible job. In addition to the annoying two second gap at the end of each track, some additional material has been inexplicably deleted (about 1:25 worth!)at the end of most tracks. To make matters worse, I reported the problem to eMusic, they responded, refunded my downloads and said they would speak with the label about getting it fixed. That's great, but you'd think that they'd disable the ability to download the shoddy version until the problem is fixed. Get your customer service together eMusic! In short, Don't download this album until the "Total Length" appears as 40:00 instead of 38:35.

They Say All Music Guide

Perhaps Edge of Sanity’s most lauded recording, Crimson is really a single 40-minute song/concept record that is perhaps one of the most interesting achievements in death metal — a genre that generally doesn’t lend itself to obscure pursuits. Generally, every death metal disc is conceptual in its single-minded focus on destruction (of life, God, art, ideas, and, especially, rock), but Crimson is different in that it delivers lyrical nuance and consistent musical themes from front to back. Often thought of as the essential Edge of Sanity disc, Crimson features the classic band lineup of Dan Swano on vocals, guitarists Dread and Sami Nerberg, Benny Larsson on drums, and Anders Lundberg on bass. Equal parts sprawling, orchestral epic and downright heavyweight slugfest, this “song” tears at many metal preconceptions. A challenging effort, Crimson is a must-have for all death metal fans. – Jason Anderson
