Wow! Agree with all the previous comments. Download it all. Only gets better with each listen.
I don't normally go for this type of thing but two things sold it to me eventually. 1. The cover of Coldplay's Violet hill 2. And the two free tracks I gained. The lyrics she sang seemed to match her voice. Despite the despair of the lyrics she expressed a hope. I hope more will be available.
It's true eMusic doesn't have everything, but it does have this fantastic album. I'm picky about letting new music into my playlist, but this is perfect. It's as sexy as everybody said it was. She has a beautiful, sassy voice and is pleasantly original.
Absolutely great from start to finish, both the songs and her singing, which feels like velvet. Every song is worthwhile--a real album--which is rare to find. One of 2009's best for sure.
Pure sexiness. Great for the work ipod or the "night-music" ipod. ;)
Excellent collection of mostly original songs; not a weak link in there. The arrangements are sparse but quite sophisticated with lots of interesting hooks. Her voice is very apealing and reminds me in places of Kate Bush. I would probably never have come across Melissa Giges (pronounnced "GUY-gus" according to her website)otherwise (so thanks again emusic!) but she deserves much wider recognition.
This girl can sing. Great voice, great interpretation (although not a big fan of her torchlight stylings), and her whimsy reminds me quite a bit of Regina Spektor.
This album is beautiful. From her spectacular vocal performances to her incredibly personal songs to the impressive arrangements, this is an album that gets better and better with every spin. "Tell Me Soon" is a gem. And what an amazing cover of Coldplay's "Violet Hill". Don't hesitate to download this entire album. There isn't a throwaway track in the bunch.
what a nice sultry voice to come across. "hey lion" is one of my favorite new songs, can't keep myself from singing along. "could it be you" could very well haunt me for awhile. this girl has a real quality to her singing, very Morcheeba - brilliant breathy falsetto, but with the welcome addition of some bite where it suits. plus a very sweet version of "violet hill" - just lovely.
